Shuttered Venue Operators Grant (SVOG)

The SVOG is a grant program administered by the Small Business Administration (SBA) that provides emergency financial assistance to eligible shuttered venues affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Eligible venues include live venue operators or promoters, live performing arts organization operators, theatrical producers, relevant museum operators, zoos and aquariums who meet specific criteria, motion picture theater operators and talent representatives. Applicants may be eligible for grant amounts that equal to 45% of their gross earned revenue, up to a maximum of $10 million.

Jane Walker - IFW First Women Grant Program

Originally launching the program with 15 grants, Jane Walker will now be matching the program and funding an additional 15 groundbreaking women-owned businesses through the end of the year. Together with a network of powerful icons, businesses will be selected across Entertainment & Film, Music, Sports, Journalism, STEM and Hospitality, all on their journey towards a monumental first. Each recipient will receive a $10K grant plus a one-year IFundWomen Annual Coaching Membership. Applications are being accepted on a rolling basis through October. 

Amazon’s Black Business Accelerator

This program is dedicated to helping build sustainable equity and growth for Black entrepreneurs by enabling their success as sellers. Grow your business with access to financial support, strategic business guidance and mentorship, and marketing and promotional support. Opportunity to apply for grants up to $10,000. Applications typically close in July.

Michigan Women Forward

Michigan Women Forward’s Microloan Fund provides entrepreneurs with access to capital in the form of microloans between $2,500 and $50,000 in size. Business must be based in Michigan.

Small Business Impact Awards 

Through MasterCard and Bank of America - To enter, complete the entry form and answer this question: In the last year, how has your business made a positive impact on your customers, your employees and your community? Four small businesses will win $10K each. Deadline is August.

Comcast has made a multi-year commitment to provide marketing, creative, media, and technology services to small businesses owned by people of color. Application deadline is June.

WomensNet

WomensNet funds $320,000 worth of women business grants (“Amber” grants) throughout the year. To be considered for their grants, you only need to fill out one application. While we have mentioned this source of funding before, we thought we would bring it up again in case you missed it the first time. I believe it is a rolling deadline but they do have specific industry grants awarded each month (October: Creative Arts, November: Skin Care and December: Fashion).

The Center for Women Entrepreneurs at Texas Woman’s University: StartHER Grant Program

The Center for Women Entrepreneurs at Texas Woman’s University has a StartHER Grant Program. The program helps women business owners—current or aspiring—to undertake new and innovative projects. A total of 25 business owners will be selected to each receive a $5,000 grant. Applications open in September.

NBA and LegalZoom

The NBA and LegalZoom have teamed up to help underserved small business owners with $6 million in grants. This is a multi-year partnership, with the grant opportunity as the first official initiative. They’ll be made available twice per year for the next three years. Mentorship and job training are also available. The companies say the grants will specifically serve women, minority, immigrant, and LGBTQ+ owned businesses. Applications are due by November 23

The David Prize is an annual Open Call for New Yorkers with ideas for a better, brighter city. Each year 5 visionary New Yorkers win $200,000, no strings attached, to support their work & ideas. The deadline for submissions is December.

Fedex Small Business Grant Contest 

FedEx awards up to $25,000 apiece to 10 small businesses annually. In 2017, the contest provided a total prize pool of $120,500. Winners also receive money to use toward FedEx Office print and business services. Entry period opens February 10.

 The Halstead Grant

The Halstead Grant is an annual award for emerging silver jewelry artists. Applicants submit answers to 15 business questions in addition to their design portfolios. The experience is designed to help jewelry entrepreneurs create a strategy to kick-start their careers. The grand prize is a $7,500 cash grant plus other benefits. The deadline is August 1st each year.

Educational Programs 

Sephora Accelerate is focused on incubating founders who are people of color. Founders will embark on a six-month journey inclusive of an intensive boot camp where they’ll gain the necessary skills to create a successful business. In addition, brands will have the opportunity to launch with Sephora, the world’s largest beauty retailer. Applications close in September.

She Angels Foundation Grant

She Angels Foundation awards grants ranging from $3-10k to female founded and operated non-profit organizations that provide mentorship, funding, training, and advancement resources to girls and women. Learn more here by clicking on "grants".

Patagonia Corporate Grant Program

The corporate grant program at Patagonia gives between $10,000 and $20,000 of funding to innovative nonprofit organizations that work to preserve and protect the environment. Learn more here.

American Association of University Women (AAUW)

Community Action Grants provide funding to individuals, AAUW branches and AAUW state organizations as well as community-based nonprofits for innovative programs that promote education and equity through projects focused on encouraging girls to select, before entering college, the physical sciences or engineering as a career. Grants range from $3K to $10K. Applications open in August.

Grants for Not-For-Profits

Costco Wholesale 

Costco Wholesale’s charitable efforts focus on programs supporting children, education, and health and human services in the communities where they do business. They review funding requests on a rolling basis, and organizations are eligible to submit one application per fiscal year. Organization must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and have a focus on supporting children, education, and/or health and human services.

Public Welfare Foundation

Public Welfare Foundation awards grants to nonprofits that address racial equity, economic well-being, and fundamental fairness for all. They look for strategic initiatives where their funds can improve lives through policy and system reform. If interested, you submit a letter of inquiry and then they reply with an invitation to apply for funding.
